Glory Hole
In August of 2010, Nicholas Hochstetler and I mapped out squares on either side of our shared studio wall, with the intention of establishing a space for connection. I decided to burrow through my side of the wall with only my bare hands.
This was a painstaking process, but it was not masochistic. I grew my nails out, and scratched only until I drew blood. I would allow myself to heal before continuing.
In December of 2010, while scratching through the plaster, I hit plywood. I endeavored for some time to break through the plywood, but given that I was only allowed per the parameters of the project to use my bare hands, I did not succeed.
